| Location: The Maka Thanee Resort is located in the western
part of Ko Mak’s south coast, almost in the centre

The Maka Thanee
Resort is situated at the probably
nicest beach of Ko
Mak, this fantastic island,
located just a few kilometres away from Ko
Chang.
The bungalow resort was opened beginning of 2007. There
is a big restaurant, built directly at the beach, 4
later built hotel buildings where the beautiful swimming
pool is located and 7 detached bungalows t in front
of the hotels in the well kept garden. |

In front of the Maka Thanee Resort a
private pier was built where the speedboats of the resort
arrive and depart. From here you can also ferry across
to Koh Rayang Nok.
The rooms are located either in the new build hotel
buildings (unfortunatley we don't have pictures of them now) or in the Bungalows
(right picture). The bungalows
are all located just a few metres from the sandy
beach. |

All rooms
have a terrace or a balcony. From the bungalows you have a wonderful view to the sea, to
Ko Kood
and the offshore islands.
From the hotelrooms the view is different depending on the location.
They are all equipped with air conditioning, a big double
bed, TV and bathrooms with hot shower and European toilets
(see pictures at the bottom).
The hotel
rooms are similarly equipped but
in some you'll find instead of a big double bed two
single beds. |

The restaurant with the big open air terrace (pictures
left and right) is located directly at the beach
beside the new built pier. You’ll have a wonderful
view on the beach
and to the opposite islands
Ko Rayang Nai and Ko
Rayang Nok.

The restaurant (right picture) mainly
offers traditional Thai specialties, but some European
dishes are also served. Fresh seafood and fish is available
as well as European breakfast. You will also find a
few computers with internet connection in the restaurant
(left picture).

all other beaches on
Ko Maak. Directly at the beach
and at the swimming
pool there are comfortable beach
chairs and parasols for the guests of the resort. |

Behind the bungalow
resort runs the island
road where a few shops, pubs and restaurants are located.
Left and right of Maka Thanee
Resort you will find more bungalow
resorts with restaurants and the
long sandy Khao Beach
invites to extensive walks. Or rent one of the kayaks
at the Maka Thanee Resort to explore the beach
and the close islands
on your own ...

Arrival & Departure
to & from Maka Thanee Resort
Ko
Mak can be reached either from
Baan Bang Bao in the south of Ko
Chang or from Laem Ngop Pier at
the mainland.
Ferries from Ko Chang (Baan Bang Bao Pier):
From November to May there are daily boats starting
from Baan Bang Bao (south of Ko
Chang) to Ko
Mak and back. As the departure
times change quite often, please ask on Ko Chang (tickets
are available in almost all travel-agencies). The times
for the return trips are available in all resorts on Ko Mak. |
Ferries from the mainland
(Laem Ngop Pier, also called
Khrom Luang Pier):
In High Season speedboats leave
the mainland from the Laem Ngop pier at 10.30 am and 2 pm. The boats will
bring you directly to the Maka Thanee Pier on Ko Mak within about about 1 hour. Rreturn trip
to Laem Ngop start at 8 am and 9.30 am.
During Low Season there is just one daily speedboat, it starts in Laem Ngop at 2 pm, from Ko Mak at 9 am.
There are also several daily fishing boats to Ko
Mak, duration about 3 hours.
As the departure and arrival times change quite often,
please ask at the Laem Ngop Pier.
In case you don't arrive at the Maka Thanee Pier you will find taxis at the piers that will
bring you to Maka Thanee Resort.
(October 2007. All information refer
to high-season between November and May. Occasionally,
due to high waves, the boats are unable to leave. Depending
on the weather conditions, boats often can't leave to
Ko Mak in low-season between May/June and October/November.)

If you want to come directly from Bangkok
to the Maka Thanee
Resort you have to start early
to avoid spending a night on Ko
Chang or at the mainland. If you
come by plane you have to get the morning flight, otherwise
you will not reach Ko
Mak and the Maka Thanee
Resort at the same day. At the
airport in Trat you have to rent a mini bus to bring
you to Laem Ngop Pier where the boats to Ko
Mak leave.
If you leave Bangkok latest at 8 am, we can organize a private
transfer from Bangkok directly to ferry pier in Laem Ngop and/or
back.
