The Makathanee
Resort is situated at the probably
nicest beach of Ko
Mak, this fantastic island,
located just a few kilometres away from Ko
Chang.
The bungalow resort was opened beginning of 2007. There
is a big restaurant, built directly at the beach, 2
later built hotel buildings where the beautiful swimming
pool is located. The 7 detached bungalows are built
in front of the hotels in the well kept garden. |

Resort (Dezc 2007) |
|
|
 |
In front of the Makathanee Resort a
private pier was built where the speedboats of the resort
arrive and depart. From here you can also ferry across
to Koh Rayang Nok.
At the moment we don't have pictures of the hotel
rooms, but they are similar to
the 6 Single Bungalows
(right picture) and the Double
Bungalow. The bungalows
are all located just a few metres from the sandy
beach. |
 |
|
All bungalows
have a big terrace with wonderful view to the sea, to
Ko Kood
and the offshore islands.
They are all equipped with air conditioning, a big double
bed, TV and bathrooms with hot shower and European toilets
(see pictures at the bottom).
The Double Bungalow
(left picture) has 2 rooms with a double bed each and
a shared balcony. It is the ideal accommodation
for families with children. |
|
 |
 |
|
The hotel
rooms are similarly equipped but
instead of a big double bed they have two single beds.
From the lower floor you'll see the beautiful garden
with the swimming pool
whereas you'll additionally have sea
view from the upper floor.
The restaurant with the big open air terrace (pictures
left and right) is located directly at the beach
beside the new built pier. You’ll have a wonderful
view on the beach
and to the opposite islands
Ko Rayang Nai and Ko
Rayang Nok. Ko
Rayang Nok and the Koh
Rayang Resort are introduced on
own pages: |

 |
|
| |
|
 |
|
The restaurant (right picture) mainly
offers traditional Thai specialties, but some European
dishes are also served. Fresh seafood and fish is available
as well as European breakfast. You will also find a
few computers with internet connection in the restaurant
(left picture).
The fine sandy beach
in front of Makathanee
Resort withdraws at low tide like
all other beaches on
Ko Maak. Directly at the beach
and at the swimming
pool there are comfortable beach
chairs and parasols for the guests of the resort. |
|
 |
 |
|
Behind the bungalow
resort runs the island
road where a few shops, pubs and restaurants are located.
Left and right of Makathanee
Resort you will find more bungalow
resorts with restaurants and the
long sandy Khao Beach
invites to extensive walks. Or rent one of the kayaks
at the Makathanee Resort to explore the beach
and the close islands
on your own ...

Arrival & Departure
to & from Makathanee Resort Ko
Mak can be reached either from
Baan Bang Bao in the south of Ko
Chang or from Laem Ngop Pier at
the mainland. Ferries from
Ko Chang
(Baan Bang Bao Pier):
From November to May there are 2 daily Island-Hopper
boats starting from Baan Bang Bao (south of Ko
Chang) to Ko
Mak and back. For the exact departure
times have a look at the website: Island-Hopper.
There are other boats from Baan Bang Bao to Ko
Maak as well. Ferries
from the mainland (Laem
Ngop Pier, also called Khrom Luang Pier):
At 9.30 am, 11 am, 1.30 pm and 4 pm speedboats leave
the mainland from the Laem Ngop pier. The boats will
bring you to Ko Mak,
duration about 1 hour. The times for the return trips
are available in all resorts on Ko
Mak.
There are also several daily fishing boats to Ko
Mak, duration about 3 hours. Because
the departure and arrival times change quite often,
please ask at the Laem Ngop Pier.
At all piers on Ko
Mak taxis are waiting that will
bring you to Makathanee Resort.
(October 2007. All information refer
to high-season between November and May. Occasionally,
due to high waves, the boats are unable to leave. Depending
on the weather conditions, some boats may not leave
to Ko Mak in low-season between June and October.)
|
On request we can organize the boat
transfer from Ko Chang
to Ko Mak Pier (one way: 400 THB, return:
800 THB).
Just type it into the field "Others" on the
